Founded to serve the needs of the trucking industry, Great West Casualty Company has become one of America's largest insurers of trucking companies. Seeing things from our insureds' perspectives has contributed to the cooperative relationships we have developed throughout the decades.

When the Interstate Commerce Commission was formed in 1936 to impose new transportation regulations, our company founder, Joseph A. Morten, started a business to help truckers obtain operating authority from the states.

His son, Joseph W. Morten, joined the business, and together they sought to meet other client needs such as insurance. In 1956, Great West was formed. From that moment on, a partnership with trucking professionals and a tradition of service was firmly established as the foundation of our company culture.

Great West has a reputation for unparalleled products and services through its innovative and proprietary underwriting, claims, loss prevention, and subrogation departments. We partner with independent agencies that specialize in truck insurance and work closely with insureds to design customized coverages.

The growth of Great West over the years has come from knowing, understanding, and serving the needs of the trucking industry, and from meeting and exceeding our insureds' needs. In 1985, we joined the Old Republic Insurance Group.
